Green Growth Compacts: How three states are pursuing a different industrial development

Watch this Discussion Forum on the second day of the Global Landscapes Forum 2015, in Paris, France alongside COP21. Recent years have seen an expansion of commitments by forest country governments, corporations, donors, and investors to reduce deforestation and land-use emissions. However, these commitments have proven difficult to implement owing to the complex challenges of shifting from business-as-usual to a forest-friendly model of rural economic growth.

During this session we hear from political leaders in three critical jurisdictions at the forefront of practice: East Kalimantan, Indonesia; Para, Brazil; and Yucatan, Mexico.

Moderator: Mark Tercek, President and CEO, The Nature Conservancy

Awang Faroek Ishak, Governor of East Kalimantan, Indonesia

Simão Robison Oliveira Jatene, Governor of Pará, Brazil

Carlos Rafael Antonio Muñoz Berzunza, Secretary of Ecology and Environment, Quintana Roo State, Mexico

Justiniano de Queiroz Netto, Secretary of State Extraordinary, Green Municipalities Program Coordination, Brazil

Daddy Ruhiyat, Chairman, Provincial Climate Change Council (DDPI) of East Kalimantan, Indonesia

Frances Seymour, Senior Fellow, Center for Global Development
