Restoring the world’s degraded and deforested landscapes is essential for local communities and the environments they live in. And this does not mean simply reforestation. Such work requires approaches that integrate the goal of restoring forests with diverse objectives within the forest landscape, including livelihoods, economic growth and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Landscape approaches to restoration incorporate other land uses, including sustainable agriculture and agroforestry to support economic development.
