BONN, Germany (Landscape News) — Known for his versatility on screen, in real life actor Alec Baldwin is also an activist, environmentalist, philanthropist and much more.

Baldwin, who will address the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) in Bonn, Germany on Nov. 19 by video broadcast, has performed in such films as “The Aviator,” “The Departed,” and “The Cooler” – for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

“We desperately need this kind of positive vision and leadership, and I’m proud to support this movement,” Baldwin said, referring to the GLF sustainable landscapes movement.

Through philanthropic efforts undertaken through the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation, which he jointly runs with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, an author and activist, Baldwin supports initiatives involving the arts, animal welfare, medical research, homelessness, human rights and the environment.

On television, his political inclination emerged most recently in a series of spoof portrayals of President Donald Trump on comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” sending ratings soaring to their highest levels since 2011.

For the past several years, Baldwin has been an advocate for U.N. work on environment and sustainable development issues, with a notable focus on forests, climate change and indigenous peoples’ rights.

In 2015, Baldwin spoke at a press conference in New York City timed to coincide with the U.N. climate talks with Helen Clark, administrator of the U.N. Development Programme, and went on to participate in the Paris climate summit as a champion of local and international efforts to protect, restore and sustainably manage forests as a pathway to addressing climate change.
