The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) is the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on sustainable land use. The GLF’s founding principle is that, if we are to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement on climate change, then we will need to build a global movement of people committed to not only learning but also acting.
The GLF began with a goal of reaching 1 billion people, and by some metrics, it has accomplished this, which led to the question: what does reaching 1 billion people mean without real, on-the-ground, landscape-changing impact?
In 2021, to support this ambition, the GLF launched a network called GLFx. The online community, which acts as a central hub for connection and knowledge sharing, is energized by independent chapters who meet in-person locally to take action on sustainability projects.
Around the world, as the movement grows, local GLFx chapters are popping up everywhere, from Accra in Ghana to Veracruz on the coast of Mexico.
Supported by the GLF headquarters in Bonn, Germany, these local chapters are already working to build a better world today, whether that’s through engaging young Kenyans with a Twitter chat on why Nairobi is overheating, or facilitating the exchange of best practices among fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico.
