There are over 8 billion people on Earth. There are about 3,000 billionaires.

In 2025, at the Wall Street Journal Music Innovator Awards, singer-songwriter Billie Eilish sparked an important question: “If you are a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?”

Eilish has become a celebrity who speaks up for truth, vulnerability and responsibility. On her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, she partnered with Reverb to set up eco-stations at each concert venue where thousands of fans could register to vote, donate to receive reusable water bottles, pledge to eat one plant-based meal per day for a month and connect with local climate nonprofits.

Fans were also encouraged to bring outdoor gear and toiletries to concert sites to be donated to those experiencing homelessness.

What’s more, Eilish gave her fans the option to buy more expensive ‘changemaker’ tickets, with  additional profits donated to various initiatives through the Changemaker Project, including Tree Folks, Rural Action and the Youth Climate Institute,.

Eilish recently accepted the Environmental Justice Award at the 2026 MLK Jr. Beloved Community Awards for her charity and for using her notoriety to voice the need for responsible climate action.

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Eilish and her brother won best song of the year. In her acceptance speech, she shared: “No one is illegal on a stolen land,” underscoring the importance of honoring those native to their territories and creating safe emotional landscapes for diverse people.
