Cold, vast, and often overlooked, boreal forests circle the North Pole, covering 17% of the world’s land.

🌲 These evergreen swaths of sparsely inhabited land are home to diverse wildlife and are located above many layers of ‘permafrost’, acting as a critical carbon sink. They also provide crucial ecosystem services to the people living in and around them, including Indigenous Peoples who rely on them for food and medicine.

🌡️ But #boreal forests are at risk due to the climate crisis, as rising temperatures are already causing these biomes to contract. How can we protect them?
